ZING! CROWNED 2010 INTERNATIONAL QUARTET CHAMPIONS [ImageHere]October 23, 2009 - Zing! was named the 2010 Sweet Adelines Internation Quartet Champions at the international competition in Nashville, TN. The quartet competed with 52 regional champion quartets from the United States, Sweden, Canada, England, Australia and New Zealand. Zing! had placed in the Top Ten in three previous competitions, this time soaring from seventh place to the top. Members include Michelle Hunget (tenor-Olathe, KS), Susan Ives (lead-Topeka, KS), Mary Rhea (baritone-Norman, OK), and Melynnie Williams (bass-Newton, KS.) Zing! wowed the audience with the first chord of "You Turned the Tables on Me," leaving little doubt as to who the winner would be. They completed their semi-finals set with a heartfelt rendition of "My Foolish Heart." The quartet began their finals package with their theme song, "Zing! Went the String of my Heart," followed by the classic ballad, "What'll I Do?" Zing! then sang two "Queen" songs -- the rock band, Queen, that is. Freddie Mercury's haunting ballad, "Love of my Life" contrasted beautifully with the lively and spirited "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." Zing! rang chords like crazy, giving them the well-deserved title of Queens of Harmony. |
